My last 2 weeks...

Folks...  In my last post I mentioned that it has been a very “eventful” last little while.  Well, unfortunately, I posted that before I realized that the current streak wasn't quite overwith...Let's go back a couple of weeks...

I was fortunate enough to be able to take from Christmas Eve (Dec 24th) until Jan 5th off for my VERY RARE vacation.  Granted, I unfortunately had to work briefly during parts of it, but it was very nice and long overdue.

We had Christmas and New Years just like everyone else...or at least every other Christian-based  family I know.  Things we going surprisingly well until the last weekend of my vacation.

Issue #1: Our refrigerator started telling us, in not very kind ways, that he was about ready to retire.  Rather than be caught reacting to his eventual work stoppage, we were proactive and made a selection and purchase of a replacement after I performed the required due diligence.  Great!  The shiny new appliance would be delivered on Sunday - the day before I had to return to work.  Good deal.  I'll be able to easily be home to receive, welcome, and settle in our new housemate.

Right....  Well, Sunday came and it was a deluge outside.  Further, due to simple physics, I had to remove the external doors (screen and main), rearrange our furniture, and remove a couple of inside doors.  The movers got the old frige out easily.  The new one was dropped just outside of it's new spot in the kitchen, appropriate connections were made, and they began to slide it into place.  THUD!  Drat.  The lightswitch is in the way.  Remove lightswitch.  THUD!  Drat.  The counter and cabinets aren't square.  Hmmm....  I removed the door trim (cracking a piece in the process).  Whew.  It slid in.

Check the water dispenser thing....nearly non-existant.  Kinda reminiscent of a 90 year old enlarged prostrate patient, I'd imagine.  Dribble, dribble....stream...dribble...  Not good.  So, I fought with the water line for the next couple of days...replacing lines, valves, etc...all to no avail.  Put that one on “Dad's Fix-it List” along with repairing the light switch and trim.

Next post: While this was going on inside a large mess was being made outside...
