As one of life's great mysteries, here's a case where some dolt beats a pregnant woman and their child dies 8 minutes after the stress-induced delivery. The paternal donor (I can't bring myself to refer to him as the “father”) is now charged with involuntary manslaughter.
First things first...I TOTALLY agree this this moron should be charged and not allowed to procreate any more. Personally, I think he's getting off easily if he doesn't get aggrevated assault and battery or at least something to account for kicking the woman (and baby), beating them with a broomstick, and pummeling her with his fists.
However, what I don't understand is why this guy gets charges against him when abortion doctors do this every day, albeit with higher technology and more graceful medical techniques. The bottom line and end result is the same. The baby is dead.
Further, some states have either no prohibition of or laws for euthanasia. Other states, of course, have either specific prohibitions against or stated that euthanasia falls within standing homocide laws. What is the difference here between euthanasia and abortion? Age?
In my mind, it's this simple, take an innocent life - pay the price. If you kill a baby or an old man, it should be illegal, PERIOD. But no. In today's culture we actually take the time to debate under what circumstances we can kill innocent lives. Unwanted baby - check. Old guy - check. “Health of the mother“ - check. Rape - check. No one to care for Grandma any more - check. Incest cases - check. Some idiot beats an unborn baby - “NO! We can't allow that!“
What?!?!? Folks, morality is not subjective. Yes, there are people out there who think it is, but there will be a day when they will understand. Unfortunately for some, it will be too late. But it is that moral relativism that makes our American culture stink of death, taste of lukewarmness, look ugly. We do not revere life. We do not cherish individual beings.
The funny thing is that in the same newspaper (The St. Louis Post-Dispatch), there was was an article where likely some of the same people who support killing humans freaked out with PETA trying to protect some bears from their miserable existance after one of them attacked a zookeeper.
I know it's cliche, but you always hear Save the Whales, Dolphins, Bears, Greyhounds, whatever... For goodness sake's SAVE THE HUMANS!
