Busy few days...

Whew!  The days surrounding Memorial Day weekend sure had a whirlwind of activity...

Thursday held some big news with a company I had interviewed with previously.  They wanted to meet me in person suddenly.  Apparently, the individual selected didn't work out - in a BIG way.  So, they asked me to come in for a visit.  Um, Friday!

So, Friday held an interesting talk with the interviewing team.  They're a nice bunch.  Straight-shooters, much like myself.  Have fun, relax, but cut all crap and get the job done.  Cool wth me.  They said they'd make a decision/selection by Tuesday.  We'll have to wait and see, I figured.

Saturday involved my regular basketball workout, then a workout of a different flavor in getting family pictures made.  We then dropped the boys off to my in-laws house for the evening and went to some friends' house for an event.  It was very nice.  It was odd to be one of a few couples without kids, but nice nonetheless.  Then, back home to finish my Sunday lesson.

Sunday was normal; teach lesson, sing, lunch, etc, etc, etc.

Monday (Memorial Day) was crazy.  It started out by thinking we had a plan (heretofore known as “Plan A”) with one group (“Group A”).  However, a second plan (“Plan B”) was suggested from a second group (“Group B”).  There was some uncertainty with Plan A, but it was simple, relaxing and potentially nice.  Plan B, on the other hand, involved walking, heat, crowds, 50's music, and my in-laws (aka Group B).  Plan A went down the crapper because Group A didn't get their work done.  SLACKERS!  So, after some healthy discussion, Plan B it was.

We went to Fast Lane Classic Cars for their annual Memorial Day car show.  It was really pretty nice.  Some of the cars are simply amazing.  Some make you wonder why they're there.  Throw in some unwitting comedy by locals and it's an amusing day of entertainment on many levels.  That is, until 15 minutes pass and it all becomes more on the annoying side.

Speaking of annoying, following our visit to Fast Lane, someone decides that going to Johnny Rocket's Restaurant is a good idea.  WRONG!  But nonetheless, we make our way to St. Louis Mills Mall.  It's a great mall.  It's great for kids of all ages.  It's got unique shops for just about everyone.  It's got a movie theater and Tony Roma's.  However, it's also got Johnny Rockets.  I spent $40 for 3 hamburgers and a hotdog.  Yes, we got shakes and fries and onion rings too, but NOT $40 worth!!!  That, and they danced (more or less) along to a few specially chosen classic songs.  All I could think was STOP, Please STOP!  The girls mindlessly did the moves as they've done a thousand times before.  The guys were certainly not mindless.  They were thinking as hard as they could through the steps, seeming like it was their first day on the job.  Nope.  I won't be back to Johnny Rocket's.  Thanks to whoever came up with that franchise and the idea to visit it that day.

Finally, while I can't go into details, today has also been a very big day.  Changes are afoot.  Change is both an exciting and often painful time.  This time is no different.  Yes, it's related to Thursday's and Friday's events.  But that's about all I can divulge at this time...

Stay tuned...
